What is Jeuveau?

Jeuveau is a botulinum toxin type A injection, like Botox, used in the treatment of wrinkles. It’s sometimes called “new Botox” or “Newtox” because it has the same active ingredient as Botox. That said, Jeuveau is often a better fit for certain types of wrinkles.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Jeuveau for the treatment of wrinkles in February 2019. It’s primarily used to treat moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. These lines are also known as “11s” or glabellar lines.

What Can I Expect From Jeuveau At Cosmetic Plastic Surgery of Maryland?

When Jeuveau is injected into the face, it temporarily prevents the nerves from telling the muscles to flex or contract. By stopping the muscles from contracting, it can smooth out the appearance of frown lines.

What Does Jeuveau Treatment Involve?

Receiving Jeuveau treatment is pretty simple. You’ll want to come to your appointment without any makeup covering the treatment area. During the appointment, your provider will inject the Jeuveau formula into the area around your frown lines. They will likely use several small injections.

The whole process only takes about 15 minutes, although it can depend on how many injections you’re receiving or if you’re getting a combination of treatments. After the treatment, you can leave immediately. There is no downtime.

What Are The Benefits of Jeuveau?

Jeuveau comes with a wide variety of different benefits. Some of them include:

  • Quick treatment
  • Natural-looking results
  • Lasts up to four months
  • Fast-acting
  • Improves the appearance of frown lines

Jeuveau Recovery & Results

Unlike cosmetic surgery, there’s no downtime needed for Jeuveau injections. You can go back to work or resume your normal activities immediately. That said, you will want to avoid rubbing the site of your injections so that the solution stays within the treatment area and doesn’t spread.

While you may see some results within a day or two, the full results typically take about a week or more to appear. To maintain your results, you will want to get treatment every 3-4 months.
