Have you been looking into getting rhinoplasty to give your nose a more appealing look but don’t want to deal with visible incisions or scars? A closed rhinoplasty can be a great option. All the incisions are made inside the nose, so you don’t have to worry about scars at all.

What Does A Closed Rhinoplasty Consist Of?

If you’re not totally happy with your nose, you may be looking for a way to alter its appearance without noticeable scarring. Is that possible? It is with a closed rhinoplasty. During the procedure, the incisions are made inside the nostrils. This type of rhinoplasty is typically done to reshape the tip of the nose, shorten the nose, or get rid of a bump in the bridge or tip.

Benefits of A Closed Rhinoplasty

A closed rhinoplasty comes with a wide range of benefits including:

  • Hidden incisions
  • Invisible scars
  • Shorter surgery time
  • Less swelling
  • Faster recovery period
  • Enhanced nasal appearance

Who Is An Ideal Candidate For A Closed Rhinoplasty?

An ideal candidate for a closed rhinoplasty is anyone in generally good health and looking for minor modifications to their nose. It’s also for those who have realistic expectations and are unhappy with the upper area of their nose. Although, it can be used to fix a droopy nasal tip as well.

Closed Rhinoplasty Procedure

At the beginning of your closed rhinoplasty, general anesthesia will be administered. Once that kicks in, Dr. Ashruf will begin by making incisions inside the nose. All the work will be done through the nostrils, and this means Dr. Ashruf has limited visibility. Luckily, Dr. Ashruf is very experienced and has done hundreds of rhinoplasty surgeries like this over the years.

Depending on the results you’re looking for, Dr. Ashruf will reshape the nose by adding and removing cartilage and bone. When the shaping is complete, the incisions are closed. The whole procedure takes about 1-2 hours.

Closed Rhinoplasty Recovery

After the procedure, you’ll wear a nose splint for 5-7 days. As you leave our office, you will need a friend or family member to drive you home.

You will want to take a few days off from work and rest as much as possible. When sleeping, you’ll need to keep your head elevated to help reduce swelling.

You’ll also want to avoid strenuous exercise, drinking alcohol, blowing your nose, and putting clothes on over your head.

After a week or so, you will go to your follow-up appointment and your sprint will be removed. You will likely still have some swelling or bruising, but it should go away in the upcoming weeks. At this point, you can start to return to your normal activities.

Results

With a closed rhinoplasty, it takes several months before you start seeing the final results, but you should start to see initial results within a few weeks.

Cost of A Closed Rhinoplasty

The cost of a closed rhinoplasty will vary depending on how complex the procedure is, but according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, on average, the cost is around $5,400. But that cost is only for the procedure itself. It does not include the cost of the anesthesia or the operating room. As the procedure is typically elective, it’s usually not covered by insurance.
