Tummy Tuck Procedure

At Cosmetic Plastic Surgery & Laser Center of Maryland, we offer a number of different tummy tuck techniques, including the full tummy tuck, mini tummy tuck, extended tummy tuck, high-lateral tension tummy tuck, and anchor incision tummy tuck.

Dr. Ashruf starts the tummy tuck procedure by administering general anesthesia to ensure you’re completely comfortable during surgery. Although, if you’re having a mini tummy tuck, local anesthesia may be used.

Once the procedure begins, we often combine high-definition liposuction to remove excess fat and then we tighten the rectus muscles in the abdomen. After that, the belly button is positioned in proportion with your new contours, and the incisions are closed.

Mini Tummy Tuck

If you experience mild to moderate sagging skin or excess fat below the belly button, a mini tummy tuck may be the ideal treatment for you. A mini tummy tuck allows you to experience the benefits of a full tummy tuck but without the extra downtime. If you are satisfied with the shape of your waist and hips but can’t seem to address stubborn concerns of your lower abdomen with diet and exercise alone, a mini tummy tuck can help to smooth and flatten your abdomen.
Unlike a full tummy tuck, a mini tummy tuck only utilizes one incision below your belly button, meaning your belly button will not need to be repositioned nor will you be required to limit exercise for nearly as long. This procedure is best for patients who are already at their ideal weight but looking to add the last finishing touch to their aesthetic journey.

Tummy Tuck Recovery and Results

A tummy tuck is generally an outpatient procedure. While you will be medically supervised for a few hours, after that, you can return home. You will be given a compression garment to wear to reduce swelling and a prescription for pain medication.

Most tummy tuck patients can return to work or their normal routine about 1-2 weeks after the procedure, but it can depend on your type of work. Your full recovery can take about four weeks.

You can expect to see results about 3-6 months after surgery when the swelling fully goes down.with your new contours, and the incisions are closed.
