What is Medical Needling?

Medical needling is a breakthrough aesthetic procedure that can drastically improve the look and feel of skin on nearly any area of the body. This treatment works by stimulating the body’s natural healing process using a series of fine, sharp needles. These needles quickly puncture the skin, creating hundreds of micro-injuries in the treatment area. These injuries are significant enough to stimulate the creation of collagen, elastin, and other healing growth factors, and gentle enough that there is very little downtime or discomfort associated with the procedure.

What is the Procedure Like?

The number of treatments recommended is subject to change depending on the size and severity of the treatment area.

Each session typically takes 10 minutes, but can take longer depending on the location and size of the area being treated. While the procedure itself can be somewhat uncomfortable, a topical anesthetic is usually administered to ease this discomfort.

The results of medical needling treatments can take 4-8 weeks to reach their full potential. While a single treatment is able to produce adequate and noticeable results, multiple treatments lead to sustained, dramatic changes. Typically, 2-5 treatments administered 2-3 months apart can produce these drastic improvements.

What are the Benefits of Medical Needling?

Medical needling has a broad range of cosmetic benefits to offer interested patients. Compared to other procedures that stimulate this degree of healing, medical needling is safer, more effective, and can be used on more parts of the body. Unlike other rejuvenating treatments, it is gentle enough to be used on sensitive areas like the eyes, mouth, and neck.

Medical needling can improve the appearance of:

  • Stretch marks.
  • Wrinkles.
  • Fine lines.
  • Skin laxity.
  • Scarring.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Nearly everyone is a good candidate for medical needling. It is suitable for all skin types, and gentle enough to be used on individuals with acne. It can not be used on people who:

  • Have open wounds or cuts.
  • Have taken Accutane in the past three months
  • Have a history of poor wound healing.
  • Have had radiation treatment in the past year.
  • Are suffering from a skin infection.
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
