The Belly Button Breast Augmentation, also known as TUBA, is an advanced surgical technique for breast augmentation. TUBA stands for transumbilical breast augmentation and refers to a surgical method where the breast implants are inserted via an incision located near the belly button. Implant Options
Dr. Ashruf only uses FDA-approved saline and silicone implants. With the belly button breast augmentation, pre-filled implants will not be used. Only saline implants, which can be filled after placement, are available for a TUBA method.
Saline implants are made from a silicone shell and are available in a variety of types, sizes, and shapes.
Implant Size
Saline implants are measured in cubic centimeters, or “cc,” rather than cup size. Type

Shape
Implants are available in teardrop or round. Round implants provide a fuller bust, creating more cleavage. Teardrop implants provide a more anatomically accurate shape and resemble the natural curvature of breasts.
Surface
The surface of a breast implant may be textured or smooth. Either shape of the implant is available as a textured, but only round implants are available with a smooth surface. Round implants may rotate in the breast pocket, which can result in a visible change in shape.

Belly Button Breast Augmentation Procedure
A belly button breast augmentation procedure is performed under general anesthesia.
Once the patient is comfortably asleep, a small incision is made around the navel. The incision is made along the inner folds of the navel to ensure all surgical marks are well-hidden.
Then a thin, blunt instrument creates a pathway through the fat layer towards the pectoral area behind the breast tissue. The blunt design of the instrument ensures no damage to delicate surrounding tissues. The second instrument with a larger blunt tip is inserted to create a space in the breast pocket, preparing the area for implant placement. A tissue expander is then guided through the tunnel and placed in the pocket to create a larger pocket that is appropriately sized for the desired implant.
The entire procedure may be complete within two hours.
An empty saline implant shell is inserted and placed in the breast pocket. Saline, a saltwater solution, will fill the implant until it is the desired size. At this time, Dr. Ashruf will inspect the implant’s orientation and placement to ensure a good fit. Each step is repeated for each individual breast pocket. Finally, the belly button incision is sutured shut with dissolvable sutures.
Recovery and Results
On the day of your procedure, a friend or loved one will need to drive you home and assist you around the house. Bruising, tenderness, and soreness around the chest and abdomen are common.
The initial expected recovery time is about one week. During the initial recovery period, your chest and abdomen will be wrapped with a compression garment to settle the implants and protect the body’s new contours. Patients are encouraged to rest as much as possible in the first 48 hours and will not be able to shower in the first 24.
We encourage patients to take it easy and avoid straining, reaching, or heaving lifting during the first week of their recovery. Sleep in an elevated position with your head raised above your heart.
Pain and discomfort are closely monitored and managed by Dr. Ashruf who can prescribe pain medication.
The results of treatment will be partially obvious as soon as the treatment is complete, but the final results will become clear as swelling subsides and the compression garments allow the implants to settle in.
